DNC Coverage Kickoff
Currently in Denver. Practically zero time to be blogging here but this is an easy cross-post. Two pieces of mine. Much more to come..eventually. In the meantime (maybe for the next two weeks) follow @joebird, @kpbsnews, and visit kpbs.org/dnc and blogs.kpbs.org/politicalfix.
Debut live interview:
22-year-old S.D. Delegate Dave Carlson
Radio news story to be aired Tuesday morning:
Select San Diegans rubbed elbows with some high-profile politicians yesterday at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
Rachel Rott is one of them. A Democratic Party pledge delegate from California’s 49th Congressional district — which covers much of Northern San Diego County — she was inspired last night by emotionally-charged speeches by Senator Edward Kennedy and Michelle Obama, both of which framed Barack Obama as an embodiment of the American dream.
“Joe Biden just walked by, and I just touched Caroline Kennedy in the hallway, and I saw Jim Webb on the floor. This is, this is amazing. This is once in a lifetime. And this is our moment. I think for all of America this is our chance to reclaim our country — starting with moments like what Michelle gave us tonight.”
Rott is one of many local delegates KPBS is trying to spotlight in its online coverage at kpbs.org/dnc.
Featured convention speakers on the docket tomorrow night include Hillary Clinton, who yesterday urged her delegates to use their votes to support Senator Obama.
